April Recap!


Hello all!

As promised Rob and I started getting back into the swing of things this month! The first thing we're focusing on is re-evaluating our scope in terms of the assets needed. If you played the demo then you probably noticed there were a fair amount of sprites & expressions just in that first chunk of the game. And while it definitely adds some more nuance vs static expressions or a handful of default expressions, it's also easy to get swept up into convincing ourselves we need more than we actually do.

So that's been the focus and will likely go into the early part of May. We want to revisit a master list of needed expressions & poses so that Rob isn't overworked right out of recovery. Hopefully weekly progress reports will start again soon as well!

Speaking of sprites, I thought it might be fun to share the reference sheets Rob put together of the available combos for the demo! These were what I would reference when deciding what to use with each line.  We have a lot of fun with the names, you can probably tell.





I think my favorite poses are Reigen's Shoo, Ekubo's Noodle, and Wawa's ...horsegirl. The fact that Rob titled it that so I have to physically type that into the engine whenever it's used is nothing short of diabolical.
